Filing a Claim

If household goods items are damaged or lost while in the care of your mover, you have the right to file a claim to be compensated for loss or damage. You have 9 months from the date of delivery (or in the event of loss for the entire shipment, from the date your shipment should have been delivered) to file your claim. Intrastate/ local customers should consult their paperwork or with the local Department of Transportation for their state claim requirements.

The Claims Process

Claims must be submitted in writing to Anthem Claim Management for claim processing.  Per Federal Law, Anthem Claim Management has 30 days to acknowledge receipt of a claim. Anthem will provide the claimant with a disposition of the claim within 120 days. Most claims are processed by Anthem Claim Management within 60 days of receipt.

Arbitration

The US Department of Transportation requires all interstate movers of household goods to have an arbitration program. If you have filed a claim and you are not happy with the settlement offered by the moving company or you have a dispute over additional charges billed by your mover, you have the option of having your case heard by a neutral arbitrator.
